Celebrating Vicky Teinaki
I don't remember if I first met Vicky in person, at some Interaction conference, and then became twitter/online friends or viceverza. What I do remember is that Vicky was one of my first IxDA friends and my first ever Kiwi friend, and the difficulties I had understanding her accent 😅. This was in the days before she moved to the UK and her accent somehow softened.
We met and maintained contact through the years mostly around the interaction design community. However, we hadn't been in touch or met in the last few years.
I remember Vicky as an avid reader, always eager to learn and, like myself, a film lover. Many years ago she introduced and gave me early access to Letterboxd, a then unknown Kiwi-funded social media for film enthusiasts. Still, to this day, my favorite social media platform. Thank you Vicky.
I know, through social media, that in recent years Vicky learned and became fluent in Spanish. I though many times that when we met again we would have a long conversation over good coffee in Spanish, my native language.
Hasta siempre y buen viaje Vicky.
